The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has recognized car rental companies as “essential transportation services”. This allows us to continue supporting our community by ensuring necessary personal mobility. Public transportation and rideshare apps pose an immediate health risk, because you’re in close contact with people in a confined space. In many places, public transit systems have temporarily shut down. This has left many essential workers with no way to reach their jobs. It’s crucial for people to have access to emergency car rental services. That’s why we’ve decided to stay open and do our part by providing clean and affordable car rentals to everyone in the Los Angeles area.
How We’re Keeping Our Customers and Staff Safe During This Public Health Emergency
At Value Rental Car, we take the health and safety of our customers and staff seriously. We want to provide the best service we can without compromising social distancing or recommended hygiene practices. Whenever a vehicle is returned, we take special care to wipe down the interior of the car with disinfecting wipes. We disinfect the door handles, gear shifter, steering wheel, radio, and other frequently touched surfaces.
Along with a thorough cleaning, our staff practice social distancing and will remain at least 6 feet away from anyone who comes in to pick up or drop off a vehicle. If you need a vehicle, you can make a reservation over the phone instead of showing up in person. You can also begin the emergency car rental process through our website.
Tips to Help Slow the Spread of COVID-19
Both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) offer helpful advice on protecting yourself and others during this crisis. Keep in mind that the best way to avoid contracting COVID-19 is to avoid contact with other people who may be infected. The virus is mainly spread from person-to-person. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks, respiratory droplets form and are expelled into the air. Like similar illnesses, Coronavirus can be spread by people who do not show any symptoms.
Wash Your Hands
Wash your hands whenever possible. The CDC recommends that you wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This is especially important if you have just been to a public place. If you run out of soap, use hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol. Keep in mind that wearing rubber gloves won’t protect you from cross-contamination after you remove the gloves. Be sure to wash your hands after you sneeze, cough, or blow your nose. Avoid touching your face, and use utensils when eating. The less contact your hands have with your face and food, the better.
Clean Frequently Touched Surfaces
Clean and disinfect personal items and frequently touched surfaces in your home. Alcohol solutions that are at least 70% alcohol, diluted bleach solutions, and common EPA-registered household disinfectants are effective. Clean your phone often, especially if you have just been to a public place. Your phone is in direct contact with your hands and your face, usually in quick succession. If possible, call people using speakerphone instead of putting the phone up to your face.
Wear a Cloth Face Mask in Public
The CDC recommends that you should wear a cloth face cover if you have to go to a public place. This includes the grocery store and other hub areas where there is a high risk of Coronavirus transmission. Keep in mind that cloth face mask are meant to protect other people in case you are sick. The face mask is not designed to keep you from getting infected. You should still practice social distancing and remain at least 6 feet away from other people when wearing a mask. If you are feeling ill, avoid going out in public and seek medical treatment.
